"I
really do not know what would suit me, except and army life
do not know that I am fit for anything else. But my inclinations
are certainly in favor of a farmers life or at least to have
my children brought up that way. . . . Have no money to keep
a store. Am good enough to be a preacher but could not preach.
Might be a clerk in a dry goods store. Might invent something
and get a patent .

| What
can we do my dear Emily when we leave the army? do propose something."
